Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 04:19AM | John Solomon We are implementing a new project entitled 'Love Boxes'. It is, in effect, simply a do it yourself proactive food drive. You find 5 or 10 boxes and you write a note on the top of each one to someone you know would love to help with the Haiti effort if they knew how. We believe this is everyone...but all the same. Write something to this effect:

Raising food for Haiti victims. Please fill up this box with food. Anything will do. :)

Then drop the 5 or 10 boxes off at your friends houses or take them to your local churches, schools, or businesses. Explain to them what I'm explaining to you now. Give them our web address so they can find out where to drop off the full boxes and mention how they can help by handing out boxes to their friends. Maybe you will start a fire...it only takes one match.
A standard box will feed someone for around 7 days and can be filled up for around $20 - $40. If all 10 of your boxes get full that's 70 days worth of food. 70 days for an afternoons work!! If only 2 of your friends hand out 10 boxes and get them full that's 140 more days worth of food!! If 2 of each of their friends...you get the idea.
Once you get a few boxes full, the food can be dropped off at various drop zones. Stay tuned for an update on specific locations nationwide, we are still nailing down the details. Until then feel free to contact us and we will direct you from there. People need our help and we have excess. Join us and be doers instead of thinkers!!

The homepage of The Olive Organization’s website has a simple quote, “Be doers not thinkers.” Essentially those at the Olive Organization are trying to eliminate hunger by taking care of the thinking so all we have left to do is, well, do.
The goal of The Olive Organization is simple: get food from those with an excess and give it to those with a shortage. The organization named itself after the olive because of the amazing qualities of the olive tree. It is resilient, beautiful and productive. It can produce enough food for an entire family even in terrible conditions, and the olive branch has long been a symbol of peace and harmony.

The concept is so simple. Love others just as much as you love yourself.
The most amazing thing happens when we realize that...
We have no gimmick. We just want to feed people. People are hungry...we have excess. It just makes since.

Musicians refer to the exchange of melodies, from one band member to the next, as a dialogue.
Notes make up melodic sentences...one voice listens and reacts...one voice leads and demands. It is an expression of our free will played out in a musical form...completely chaotic..completely by design. To listen and watch two seasoned instrumentalists carry on a conversation, is a rare witnessing of the beautiful dance of Lady Improve and Master Calibration.
It is musical fusion...of the family of quantum sciences. Two parts become one new expression of life...of sound. I like those sorts of things...two totally opposing views in perfect harmony. Two shapes that don't fit in the same category..fused together to create new life, greater than either shape standing alone...a romance of melody and the marriage of equilibrium and sound.
Fully mortal and yet entirely emotional..balanced as ONE universal melodic expression.

This would be the beginning...you know the part where the whole thing gets started.
Everything has a beginning...a launching point...a preamble to the rest of the plot. The beginning is where the main characters are introduced...it is the origin of relevant facts for the rest of the story.
Knowing that everything has a beginning, that the story began somewhere, implies that we are headed somewhere...that we are on some kind of journey.
We are somehow involved in a story.
If you are reading this, then at least for a brief moment we are somehow involved in the same story.
We have decided to plant an olive seed in middle Tennessee, therefore our story is the story of a tree. A tree of people, of food, and a tree of love. If you feel so inclined...help us grow it.
